How I Ended My Lower Back Pain – Part 5: Bench Crunches
Crunches are essential to ending lower back pain, but I hate doing them on the floor. I started on the floor, but quickly graduated to a $30 bench. If you have space I highly recommend it. In this video, I demonstrate my method of doing bench crunches.
I have tried to make my back/abdominal exercise routine fun, interesting and sustainable. I fully intend to do this for the rest of my life. In 6 months, this stretching & exercise routine ended 8 years of back pain. This bench, along with the inexpensive exercise machines I purchased have made this highly effective routine very fun, interesting and sustainable. When I first started, I did everything on the floor, and I dreaded starting each morning. Now I really enjoy it.

I got that bench about 20 years ago at a sporting goods store (don’t remember which one). It was up in the attic until I started this new fitness program. Now I use it every day. You should be able to pick up something similar at any good size sporting goods store.
