Depending on whether your back pain is from stress, a slipped disk, or perhaps anatomic problem, as long as your medical or chiropractic advisers give permission for you to exercise and do simple yoga and stretching,
Lower back pain can be greatly relieved by doing the right exercises for a few minutes a day. Start with the exercise and stretches on this video.
We have created for you a sequential 12 week program to ease low back pain and build up strength in your core.
At the same time, you will increase your flexibility and take stress off tendons and ligaments. Together this will give increasing back strength and back flexibility.

Picture a cow in a pasture or a sleeping cat—could their lives be any more relaxed? Since stress aggravates back pain, take a cue from these animals and practice this relaxing yoga-inspired stretch.

To complete this How-To you will need:

Comfortable clothes
A floor

Step 1: Get on hands & knees

Get down on your hands and knees. Your hands should be pointing forward and aligned underneath your shoulders, and your knees should be aligned underneath your hips.

Step 2: Inhale & arch back

Inhale, and slowly arch your back over a count of 5, dropping your belly towards the floor and raising your head, chest, and tailbone up.

Tip: Don’t overuse your lower back muscles; let gravity do most of the work.

Step 3: Hold stretch

Hold the stretch for 3 seconds.

Step 4: Exhale & round back

Exhale, and slowly round your back over a count of 5, dropping your head and tailbone down and pulling your belly inwards

Step 5: Hold stretch

Hold the stretch for 3 seconds.

Tip: To vary the stretch, rotate your midsection in a clockwise circle as you arch up and then down. Repeat 5-8 times and then rotate counter-clockwise for the same number of times.

Step 6: Repeat stretch

Repeat the stretch 3-5 times in each direction.

Ninety percent of all adults in the U.S. experience back pain sooner or later. Regular stretching can better your chances—or at least push sooner off until later.

To complete this How-To you will need:

Comfortable clothes
A floor
An exercise ball

Step 1: Lie flat on back

Lie flat on your back on the floor with your legs straight together and your arms straight out from your sides in a ‘T’ shape, palms up.

Step 2: Raise feet

Keeping your legs together, raise your feet off the ground by bending your hips and knees at 90û angles. Your calves will be parallel to the floor.

Step 3: Rotate lower body

Pulling your belly button in toward your spine, slowly rotate your lower body to the left so the outside of your left leg and hip fall toward the floor as far as they will go without strain or pain.

Step 4: Hold position

Keeping your arms and upper back in contact with the floor, hold for 10 seconds.

Tip: Your leg and hip might not reach the floor at first, but if you repeat this stretch regularly you’ll eventually make contact.

Step 5: Repeat on right

Raise your bent legs back up and then slowly lower them to the right, repeating the stretch on your right side.

Step 6: Repeat on each side

Raise your bent legs back up and repeat the stretch three to five times on each side.

Step 7: Release stretch

Release the stretch by raising your bent legs back up, then lowering them straight out in front of you, one at a time. Back pain begone!
